rev limit

How high could I safely rev with LT4 springs, RR and guide plates?
I have stock setings now. Could I go 5800 RPM for shifts and
6200 rev limiter?

Re: rev limit

Yes ...

But the LT4 springs are marginal. They are what would hold me back from really beating it if it was my car. They only are good to .525 lift. It doenst leave much to ask for.

Re: rev limit

I forget exactly but its like .480 intake & .491 exhaust. That is with 1.6's.

You wont run out of gears shifting it at 5800.

I see your pretty new on the board. In case you didnt know it, the stock tach is slightly slower than the true RPM speed. So to shift at 5800ish, you should be shifting as soon as it goes to red give or take a hair depending on your exact set up. Also, you put down some nice numbders for an automatic. Real nice actually.

O yea and one more thing I noticed. Alot of people on this board seem to bash flowmaster and will likely tell you that with another cat back you would break 300RWHP where you standing right now with the mods and the numbers it put down with it. Are those corrected numbers? What RPM did it make peak horsepower at ? You really dont want to go too far past peak power. Just go a few ( like 200? ) hundred RPMs past it and shift to keep it up there in the power band, closest to your peak horsepower.

Re: rev limit

Peak power is at 121.1 MPH. 5200RPM ?
Numbers are SAE whatever that is.
It pulls alot stronger at the top and I
want to take advantage of that.

Re: rev limit

If your car made the most power at 5200 RPM's, 294 RWHP, Then I be shifting it at 5500ish. No need to wind it all the way out if its making peak power at 5200. You only need to go a few hundred (200-300) RPM's past peak power that way when the car is shifting, it keeps it up in the strongest portion of the power band. 5200RPMs seems kind of low for a near full bolt-ons car though? I would have expected peak power at like 5600ish give or take and to shift it at 5800.
