rev limiter?

hey guys quick question, i was driving today and got down on her full throttle and when it hit the red line to shift the rpms started jumping all around, they would fall a couple of hundred than rev back up,seems like the rev limiter but i have never had this problem before, it usually shifts out. any ideas?

Re: rev limiter?

Some one should talk about this so-called-rev limiter! Could it be just a lack of fuel or valve float? Or-perhaps just ignition failure-what do you think? 93ZTED

Re: rev limiter?

Fuel cutoff pretty standard on any car with efi.

Re: rev limiter?

You need to get it reprogrammed for the high stall and the shift kit. Trust me. Something about the transgo shift kit and high stall. PCMforLess can hook you up. Be sure to let them know about the shifting problem.

Re: rev limiter?

whats so weird is that its never done this before, and ive dogged on her plenty of times, why would it just start if it was something thats been there all along like a rev limiter.

Re: rev limiter?

Sounds fuel or ignition related to me. Usually the rev limiter is pretty consistent- I've hit mine a few times- "ding-ding-ding!"- you get the idea. Your coil could be crapping out, your optispark could be having problems (I had this one, at high rpms the tach would start swinging wildly, I'd have to let off the gas to get it to shift sometimes ), or your fuel pressure could be dropping off. I suppose valve float could be a problem too, but it's not something I'd think of first. I'm sure there's other things too, I can't remember them all. BTW, problems like these are a pita without good diagnostic equipment (unless it gets worse and the car won't even run, anyway).

Re: rev limiter?

revisited this thread a few moments ago looking into a high rpm miss or "rev limiter" around 5700 to 6000 rpm found absolutely nothing helpful especially when these guys started talking about shift kits and stalls and trans slipping im pretty sure in the sig. it says he has a m6 right? wtf

Re: rev limiter?

Are you having a similar problem and need help, or are you just pulling up a 5 year old thread so you can criticize?
