Rounded off lugnut

Argh....please help me folks!
A front lugnut was pretty tight on, so I decided to give it some more "torque". The key slipped, fell off, and now I'm sitting here with a rounded off lugnut.
I've tried it several times (maybe I shouldn't have) but it is now in a very bad shape.

PLEASE HELP! How can I get it out?!

well you could drive the car to a shop( tuffy) and have them use an air chizzle on the lug nut..

since there is no surface to use to take the lugnut off.... your gonna have to cut it!!!.

or you could... remove the caliper and remove the rear end housing .... and take out the axle shaft c clip and slide the entire axle out with the rim on it.. but i dont reccammend that at all...

goto tuffy and have them remove the nut!!!

Sorry for being such a dumbass, but what's an air chizzle?
I guess it's something like an air tool...or cutter...

His sig says he's in Budapest!

Another way to remove it would be to get a big 12 point socket that you can destroy, one that just almost fits on the lugnut, then hammer it onto the lugnut so it's jammed real good. Then put a socket wrench on it and pray while you turn it.

Yeah, tried that. The problem is, it's so damn round, that no socket can get a grip on it...

Oh, now I see, it's supposed to be a chisel. Ok, I've got it now.
We have no "tuffy" shops here, but a regular tire shop will handle it for me, I guess.

Thanks guys!

just use a hammer and chizzle to spin it takes a while but works. Then just go buy a new lug

There are tools called nutcrackers that would remove it. Try a store with a good tool selection.

I like the socket hammering onto the lugnut idea. I had to do that before. Thats about the only way I can think of...what size of socket were you using to try and get it off??? You SHOULD be using an 18mm or 3/4" socket.

I've heard hammering on a cheapie socket (one you're willing to destroy) will work.... or weld a new lug nut onto the mangled one, if you have a welder.

Tool companies like Snap-On and Mac make sockets that are specially designed to remove damaged lug nuts. They sort of slip on to it and they have teeth inside of them that sort of bite on to the nut when you loosen them. So the harder you try to loosen the nut, the harder the socket bites onto it.

When I got my car it had a locking lug nut on each wheel ( round lug with slots) and no wrench to take them off. I used a 18" pipe wrench to get them off. It is had to get a bite on them since they are so sunk in, but I put a rag in between the rim and were the wrench wanted to rub it and got them all off with out making a mark on the rim..

There are these special sockets you can probably get an any auto parts store... they are regular 3/4 19mm sockets but they have curved teeth inside that can grab stripped lug nuts. Of course it destroys the lug nut at the same time but yours was already done deal.

Thanks for the bunch of replies!
It think a tire shop will remove it for me, now I don't care how..
The lugnut is busted, period. It became very-very soft, I dunno why. I've hammered on a 18 socket, gave it a turn, and all it has done was twisting the metal, then it fell off. I dunno what made that lugnut become so soft
I'll get a chrome set for my 17"s.
