Not sure why you feel you have to contradict and criticize all my posts recently. I was simply pointing out that the OP had cited DTC 16, someone (YOU) had already pointed out what happens with DTC 16...... but we still had people telling him it was the ICM.

@ speedygonzales..i do have a consistent dtc16 according to the instructor and students..when they put the new flashed pcm the code poped up after test drive, they reset it, test drove it, light come on again, they put the scanner and again dtc16 came back again.my car runns good for about the first 1-4 minutes, then stumbles for about 3-5 seconds as if it wants to turn off while driving, the service engline light turns on. and when it is driven about 20 miles, when i turn it off, it wont start for a while. it will crank but not start..just yesterday i drove it for about 10 mins..turned it off..turned it on and drove around the block and it stumbled all the way back to the house..so i drove it about 5-10 mph home

With reference to the DTC 16

Check all the connections between the opti and the PCM for signs of corrosion or anything else unhealthy.

If that all looks good, put a scope on the red/black wire and look at the square wave while the engine is running. See if the signal drops out occasionally.

Based on the symptom, the problem, and code. Neither a tune up, nor an ICM is warranted.

Stick to the problem and it's symptoms and do good investigation. This is the perfect time for your instructor to pull out the scope and review it with the class.

Don't simply buy an opti. YET.
