Setting up beehives

I see comp says 1.800 but I see others in a range of 1.750 and up. Cam is an LPE 219 duration 560 lift. Motor is revved to 6500 max. What are your thoughts?

I've read to use the 10* +.050 locks and 10* retainers to get the appropriate install height. You should install them with whatever locks, retainers and locators you have and use a height mic to check the install height.

Right now I am running 195 TF heads. Am I going to have to get the 4705 locators? I'm new to the valvetrain side of the motor and had my current heads set up by the machine shop, but this time the heads are not coming off lol.

Those are the locators I'm using on stock heads. I think it depends on your valve guide somewhat, but I may be wrong.

Those locators are as good, they could be better and fit the guides tighter but ya take what you can get, so USE THEM.

The beehives will want to be setup for your cam in the 1.750" range, and that shouldn't be hard to do with the parts mentioned.

I see people using both the 10* and 7* locks. Which ones should I be using? I have the PN's for the 7* but if the 10* is preferred does anybody have the PN's for use the standard SBC head?

The only other thing I would add here is to check the clearance between the retainer and the valve stem seals at full lift. When I did mine, I rigged up a couple solid lifters and found that I only had about 0.010" clearance. I ended up taking the heads back off and getting the guides cut down to gain the extra clearance (as I recall, Comp Cams recommends 0.060").

If I am sticking with the same cam, is it worth changing to a better design spring? These are on Trick Flow Heads. I am running the trick flow springs now with the 560 lift cam. (127 seat 378 open) I dont know if these could be hurting or not. what would you guys do? Also if I am ok now with my retianers should the new ones be ok too? Should I leave well enough alone. I've had it dynoed up to 6700 on these and it "seems" ok
