Hyd lifters may do that but don't worry when you crank it up they will firm up,if they were set correctly to start with.I hope wou are using the pushrod "feel" method with the piston on TDC.

yah.. i was using that method... got mosta them close and switched to the adjust while running method... and i just cant get the passenger side to quiet down.... no matter what i do... im at wits end... and not to mention oil is starting to **** out my oil pan gasket... so i guess ive got to fix that now too...
So it is normal for things to loosen up? because thats why I quit that first method because the rrs almost flopped around a bit.... even when the poly locks were tight....
i think i need to find someone who has done this before to help me...

factory lifters, cc305, hardened comp pushrods, self aligning 1.5 RRs combination motorsports ex-612 springs

Im just on the point of paying for someone to take care of it and make it right... its come un-set 2-3 times now on me... and im just getting tired of sucking at it... not to mention my oil pan gasket is PISSing oil.

Trying to run self aligning with that cam,is not the best idea. You need some regular RR's guide plates, and hard push rods. You also need a pushrod length checker to get the correct length before you order. Then you can adjust the valves.

the pushrod length is normal, I havnt changed the geometry at all. so everything should like up... and why are self aligners not good to use with the cc305?

Based on that information, I'd say that "backing off" is not your real problem. Your saying that it's just the passenger side making noise? Uncanny.

Make sure when you tighten polylocks, that you lock the nut about 1/16 of a turn from where you want to be... then give the nut that 1/16 of a turn. They won't come lose that way.

You do have good oil pressure? In other words... oil pressure is good up top, through the pushrod??

Are these new lifters or old ones?

oil pressure hasnt changed since before the install. I can clearly see oil running up into the RR and then flowing down the spring iinto the head.

Backing off is my problem im almost positive... every time ive had the issue its because one has backed off terribly... I have a feeling im just not setting the poly locks correctly. They are the origanal lifters, but they were in excellent condition.

It may be easier to use Shoebox's method where you can adjust half the valves at one time, turn the crank, and do the rest.

Are you sure that you were at #1 TDC? You might have been one rotation off.
