Setup Questions

So im doing a "cam only" setup on the replacement motor im putting into my formula and have a few questions. First off the setup

Crane Gold 1.6 rrs
Miezere electric waterpump
cc503: (224/230 .535/.544 112lsa) w/ 1.6RR's
Crane 10308 valve spring kit
Pacesetter Longtubes and true dual(should be soon)
Progear Timing set
Polished Stock tb
ASP underdrive pullies
3.42 gears
M6

First question is will the crane valvespring kit work properly with the SA rockers and cc503? Should I be able to get away using the stock pushrods without issue? Idea on numbers or times this should net me?

Well I was under the impression that the crane golds were only sa rockers but looked into it and realized it was both. They were on teh car when i bought it and the previous owner isnt sure which they are...so how do I tell?

it may be hard to tell, but the picture below is of Crane self adjusting rockers - they have the roller tip kind of like embedded up in the snout of the rocker with washers on the sides to keep it aligned over the valve tip - and they are wrong for this valve/retainer application - this needs NSA rockers

You won't have a problem running SA rockers with that cam. For several years I ran a 224/230 605/622 cam with SA rockers.

Thanks for the info, and yea im going to just run the sa rockers and upgrade my lifters to ls7s while im in there.

Which spring kit would work better, the crane 10308-1 or comp 26918? Ive been told the comp springs will work better and also other then the springs and retainers what else will I need?

my understanding is that you will need different springs to use self adjusting rockers, the tip of the valve has to be longer to keep the rockers aligned, you may want to check into that

If you are to run the ls7 lifters, the stock pushrod lengths may not be correct. You will want to use an adjustable pushrod checker and do your set up that way.
There have been several debates as to the pushrod cup depth being deeper than stock. Buy the $20 tool and just check to be sure.
