Shift kit questions
Hey guys, help me out on this if you could. I was just wondering if it is worth it to install a transgo shift kit on my Z? What type of performanxe gains do you get from one, and can a moderately skilled do-it-yourselfer install one, or will a shop have to do it? Thanks alot ofr your help!

Definately upgrade to a shift kit! They are well worth the money. Tranny's are pretty complicated things, so I'd have it installed by a shop to be safe. At least if something isn't right you have someone to fall back on.

Shift kits are nice, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself if you've never done it before and can't get someone with knowledge to help you. if something not exactly right you could burn up the trans, or it might not work at all (worst case).
don't put too firm of one in there though, tried my friends car out at the track the other day (383 and rebuilt tranny) trans has some upgraded stronger parts, and i think a shift kit was installed but either way, it shifts really hard.. if it didn't spin the tires off the line it was gonna spin them when it shifted to second. Feels great.. just needs to keep traction to run a lower et.
On the street, if your looking to make a long mark, its pretty good, will spin them clear into 3rd gear :-)
