It will go slower if you shift it anywhere beyond ~5,800rpm. If you mean to ask where the factory shift points are set in an auto, I am not exactly sure but from driving them it seems like about 5,700.

shift points

It really depends on what your motor likes.

I shift at 6200/6200 for my best times. Ive been told that 5800 was a max with a stock cam but my car likes more rpms.

I think the main issue is the large rpm drop between gears. If you shift 1st to 2nd at 5800, 2nd will drop your rpms to 3200. If you shift at 6200, 2nd comes in at 3550rpms.

On my car, these extra rpms give me an extra 25 hp in the power band. Ive had my car dyno'd and used it to maximize my et's.

I have a stock motor (165k miles), Moroso Cold Air and Flowmaster 3" catback plus some free mods.

My best is 13.44@103mph, 1.98 60ft on Nitto's. It dyno'd 280rwhp and 303rwtq.

These times were w/o spare tire, floor mats, 1/4 tank gas and iceing down the intake. This was also with no suspension mods. The temp was about 85 with low humidity.

P.S. GET SUBFRAMES IF YOUR CAR HAS T-Tops. These 1.98 60's put wrinkles in both quarter panels. Sucks, but the launch was great for stock motor, stock stall and no suspension mods.

Hope this helps.
