Shifter feels rough when moving into 2nd
This is bugging the hell out of me. When I move my shifter from 1st to 2nd at normal RPMs, it feels like its being knocked back into netrual but the car doesn't shake nor kick bad but if i'm racing someone and I shift at 5600 it doesn't happened. Also when I down shift into 2nd I get more probs. Do I need a new shifter or is this trans related?

Ohh is that what that damn thing was....LOL! I thought the guy jacked my clutch up. I sometimes (extremely rarely had problems shifting into first. I think my Cags thing might have been locking me out or something...felt just like that second gear block out....where can you get a CAGS eliminator...that thing is annoying.

As for CAGS, you can either get an eliminator (I think thunder racing sells them) or you can do a quick job with some resistors. I don't know the exact values but it's your choice.

Funny...I just coppied down the resistor info like 10 minutes ago. Yeah SLP is sometimes worse than those guys on ebay...I didn't really pay attention to the CAGS thing LOL...all this time I thought it was the B&M Ripper....

I think you guys got off topic here.
What this guy is talking about isn't CAGS.
I have had the same problem when going like 20 or so heading into a normal 90 degree corner and downshifting into second.......if I don't hold the stick in gear the tranny will often kick it back out to neutral.
Also, when the car is cold it can be mildly resistant going into second (I eliminated the CAGS) and occasionally there will be a slight audible sound and vibration in the stick (similar but not as pronounced as putting it in reverse).
is bent shifter fork still the only answer? Would an aftermarket stick take care of this minor problem?

My friend mustang popped out of second all the time. He brought it to a speed shop and they said the syncronizers were worn. He had the trannmission rebuilt and the problem was solved. I hope this help.

No, a new shifter probably wouldn't help. Chances are its a lose shifter fork, or the shifting linkage is out of adjustment...probably need to take it to a shop that can look at it, bu have them look at those two first

I know it wasnt the CAGS but he was wondering how to do it. Anway, its not a shifter fork. The only shift fork (99% of the time) that bends is the 3/4 for some reason, it is still possible, but that is not the problem Im almost sure.
You have a bad 1/2 synchro, its actually not the synchro because those also hardly go bad. There are 3 retainer clips on each side of each synchro that hold it in gear, if one of these is broken first of all it wont hold in gear, and that is if it even allows it to go in gear, most of the time it will prohibit the slider from moving to the #2 gear syncrho.
I need to take a picture of this happening then next time I have one apart for this reason because a lotttt of people have this problem and arent sure what it is, and im afraid the way i explain it isnt the best, but thats most likely your problem. Hope you are mechanically inclined or have $1500 if you want to get it fixed. Or if you feel like shipping it I could do the work, just an idea to try to save ya some $$.
