Shorties + ORY + Borla Catback
= raspier then hell
Only time it sounds semi descent is when I have the full plate in. I'm guessing I need some cats or a cat.... Would this help much? I just want a deep, loud sound without the rasp and backfiring when reving. Certain brand cats out there that will perform better?

From everything I've read, the CAT is the best option to get rid of the rasp.
I am doing MAC midlength headers and hooker catback, and I bought a carsound CAT off ebey for like $45 including shipping. I think the seller is performancepeddler I have seen flow graphs that show the carsound cat flowing 50% more than the stock CAT. I think the flow number was 375 for the carsound vs 250 for the stock CAT.
I figure I'll go with the CAT first. If that seems good, then I'll see If I can get away with bullet muffler in it's place. If that gets raspy, the CAT will go back on.
Hope this helps.

Currently, I have SLP shorties, no cats, and true dual Bullets. No rasp whatsoever. My first setup, was a Flowmaster with stock manifolds and cats. Sounded fine. I wanted louder, so I took off the cats. It turned very raspy. Once I added the SLP shorties, it took out the rasp 100%. So even with SLP shorties, no cats, and a Flowmaster, it had none at all. Now that I slapped on an X pipe with Bullets, I can't even remember what rasp was.
My friend had a 95 TA with a Flowmaster 80's series and no cats and every time he rev'ed his car up, it would have a VERY raspy sound. Some people liked it, some didn't.
