should i replace opti ?

hey guys....gettin ready to do a 383 stroker rebuild on 95 Z with 147K. i wanna make sure i replace anything that needs replacing while i've got everything taken out. i have never had any problems at all with my stock opti, which i still have in there. should i leave well enough alone, or is it a ticking time bomb? i have read some posts about some alternatives to the opti, but they look kinda pricey...especially with all the expenses i already face with my rebuild. what would ya'll do ?

If I was you I would just go ahead and replace it. You're already going to have everything apart so if you aren't on a tight budget I would replace it.

I would replace it with that amount of miles. Nothing worse than some old part dying when you are bringing a new engine to life.

i'm glad to get some reinforcement to what i was already thinking. i agree that while everything is out and accessible, it's the time to replace suspect stuff like that. sure hope i dont get a dud...seems like i've read way too many posts about people putting 3 and 4 opti's in over only a couple years.

Re: should i replace opti ?

The internals of the opti include a cap and rotor; these parts wear with time so it's best to change out your high mileage opti.
