Which side goes up on the Mr. Gasket 5716??

When faced with this issue, absent any markings saying 'THIS SIDE UP" I've always let the cylinder ring band tell me which way is up.
If you run your finger around the band on both sides of the gasket, you'll find one side has a slightly more raised edge, sort of like a "O" ring. That side always goes toward the aluminum cylinder head for slightly better sealing.
I thinknof it as Aluminum, being a softer metal, compresses more than cast iron and the raised edge of the band improves the sealing against aluminum.
The flat side of the band goes toward the cast iron block.
Some may say it doesn't make a difference, but it does to me. Just how I do it.

Just me trying to do my best to explain stuff, my reasoning and, when questioned, my sources.
Anyway, Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to you and yours!

This is up on another Forum right now. Guy at Gasket said it didn't matter; another poster said name side UP. "Box" and I are in agreement; raised lip UP.
This is basic, oil school stuff that I thought everyone knew. I sometimes forget about the inexperienced guys just now coming aboard.
