solutions for cam surge

Just got my car done today. I've noticed when i cruise at 2200-2400 i get some cam surge. Will the tune cure this or is there other ways of getting rid of it? Its not unbareable but annoying.

I wouldn't drive it atall without a tune.

I would not even start it if the injectors were changed during the build and the tune is not setup for them.

Dwayne is now the fifth person who has given you the correct advice - you need a baseline tune. Stop running the engine before you wash out the rings and have to start all over.

Not only are you potentially doing damage from running it untuned, but that is not the correct way to break in a new engine. You need to RIP ON IT to get the rings to seat using conventional oil ONLY. Babying it will do far more harm than good.

Seriously, take a step back, park the car, and get the correct base tune with the correct injectors before all of your hard work is undone. If you've never tuned before it is not something you can just pick up, make a few clicks, and go (especially on a 93). The mail-order tune needs to be a priority - let the pros do it.

Re: solutions for cam surge

I never once stated that i was tuning the car i don't understand why you would jump too that conclusion. Solomon is tuning the car not me. The car has conventional oil in it and i haven't driven the car more than the 8 miles from my house too the shop. I didn't install the injectors because i was told without a tune it would run too rich. Was also told if i "had" to drive the car too not rev it more than 4500 on stock injectors which is exactly what I've done. All i asked is if tuning would get rid of cam surge. Who are the other three people who told me not too run on my bolton tune? Solomon himself told me it would be fine but not too over rev the car because the stock injectors can't supply fuel for the motor at high revs. I think my post may have been misleading. What i meant too say is i have to have the injectors in too datalog then solomon will email me my tune.

Re: solutions for cam surge

My car at 60 mph is revving 26-2700. On the hwy its close too 3k at 70 so when i say cruising i mean no 6k pulls or brakestands lol. In that 8 mile trip i did take it upto 4k a few times. I spoke with solomon a few minutes ago and he said that tuning will clear up the cam surge.
