Speed Density Tune on 95 LT1?
I recently had someone break into my car and steal a ton of parts off of it that were laying in the engine bay One of those things was my MAF. Can I have a mail order tune place tune my car for no MAF? If so, how does it affect the drivabilty? Thanks, Brad

Yes it's easy to do, and 92-93 LT1s were SD from the factory. But a MAF is a lot cheaper than a tune.

it wont be off that much, but a tune at -15 degrees vs 104 degrees will be off, itll still run fine at both though, just not dead nuts on.

Well the price of the tune dosent matter because I need one anyways for my cam change. How about through winter...this is gonna be my semi daily driver if I can get it finised before it gets to cold to work on it.

Speed density has the same accuracy as MAF, as long as you get the VE tables right, and don't change anything. The weather will not affect it, because the "density" part of speed density fully accounts for the changes in temperature and barometric pressure.
The only difference between speed-density and MAF is the fact that the MAF sensor measure mass air flow directly, while speed density has to calculate the mass air flow from the rpm, VE, IAT and MAP. As long as you don't make a change that alters volumetric efficiency, you don't need to change the speed-density tune.
I wouldn't switch to speed-density just because someone stole the MAF sensor. Won't your insurance pay for a new one?

No Insurance wont pay for it. I had tons stolen from the car, cd player, amp, shift boot, shift ****, dash fuse door, dash radio trim panel, pcm, radiator, ac condensor, maf, 1le elbow, k&n CAI, my valve covers which had my 1.6 roller rockers in them, opti, and other stuff I forgot about. Oh and as to wether spending $30-$40 on a used MAF verses $0 in a MAF removal on my tune that I already have to have done for my cam and other things I installed. So yes spending $0, assuming that the MAF removal is an option on PCMForless's or MadZ28's tunes. Because I also really want to make my own CAI out of curved 3 inch pipe that I will paint body color (white), and just to strait to a K&N filter behind the front drivers tire. Thanks for everyones info.

I run a speed density tune on my car. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless you have the tuning software and can do it yourself. The reason is because you need to make multiple logs of the car and use VEMaster to get the VE tables right. If you already have the stuff to make logs of the car, you might as well spend the extra $100 and get TunerCAT and do the tuning yourself. Also, a wideband setup would help a ton for WOT.
So, the answer is yes, you can run SD.
