I keep hearing how people can't floor their LT 1's in first gear without spinning. I just had my engine rebuilt about 700 miles ago and now if im rolling at say 10mph when i nail the gas i just accelarate hard without spinning at all. Is this because its still new or am i lacking the full potential of my engine. My car has a k and n CAI and underdrive pulleys...should be enough i would think.

I assume that you rebuilt it to stock specs. Road conditions, drivers, automatic or manual, and tire conditions are all things that can affect tire spin on a stock car. On my stock 1996 Z28, i ran a 13.9 in the quarter and connot always spin my tires in first. Be happy you get traction!!! . Let your engine break in a little more. Take it to the track or dyno. See if you like the results. I am sure you will notice more power once the engine fully breaks in.
BTW...why did you have your engine rebuilt? No other drivability complaints?

Well, I bought the car in early January but the guy who sold it to me forgot to mention he had blown the head gasket and kept driving it. A week after i got it I heard a loud knockign noise and took it to 2 shops who told me the engine needed to be replaced. So threw a friend i got it rebuilt for cheap but apparently since nobody was making a profit they felt it was OK to go slow, and with the snow storm we had, it took 9 weeks to finish, i got it back last Friday and on Saturday morning some guy rear ended my car, it was in the shop till today getting the bumper replaced. I just got it back today, so after 3 months of owning it I have driven it about 8 days total! Now im just happy to see it in my driveway, but it seemed like it wasnt as powerful as it should be.

i would definately let it break in 500 or 1000 miles before your nailing it. it will probally get a little quicker after that. a few of my friends have just got rebuilds and their cars are slower after the rebuild. i guess a lot of it has to do with who built it and what parts were used. as for traction, i can nail it usually from a dead stop without spinning. i have an M6. i just can't hold up the rpms. for traction, tire pressure is critical. i need the tire pressure at 35psi. if its at 30psi, i will be spinning them. just get some miles on the car and see how it runs by going to the dyno or track. good luck
