stall to match XE 230/236

What is the best stall to match an XE 230/236 .112 LSA? I saw some other people with 3200 stalls, but will that be enough to match the torque curve with such a cam?

I was told that a 3200 stall was perfect for that cam. I am putting in it next summer.

I would definitely go with anything between 3000 and 3200 stall speed. I have a 3200 on my Hot Cam, which makes power in lower RPMs than the XE 230/236 and I love it. I'm sure it would go great with your cam.

Would a 3400-3600 stall be an overkill?

I doubt that would be overkill. I think 3000 would be the minimum you would want to go.
