Starter Question!
Application: LT1 385 Stroker 94.
HISTORY:
About a year to two years ago I rebuilt my LT1 to a stroker motor using a 168 tooth flexplate. After puting the motor in the car and bolting up everything, I went to put my stock starter on and found out that it wouldnt fit. The nose was too small (stock flexplate) So to accomadate the bigger flexplate that I have I went to autozone and picked up a Big block starter from a 1970 camaro. Worked perfectly. Keep in mind that the daimeter of this starter is HUGE!.
CURRENTLY:
Last night I went to place the same starter on my motor it will not fit. Why? Becuase I have installed a Canton Oil pan that has kicked out sides.
THE QUESTION:
To your guys knowledge do they make a starter that will accomadate the 168tooth flexplate but smaller in diameter, and if so what year and make was the car if any. NOW I know they make the mini torque starters etc. Im trying not to spend extra money right considering the fact I have a lifetime warranty on my current starter. So if anyone can help it would be great.

The CVR Pro-Torque starter is smaller than the stock starter, and can be rotated on the mounting plate into various positions to provide clearance. I have one on my my 381. JEG's sells what appears to be the same starter for even less. Has two sets of mounting holes so it will work with 153 or 168 teeth.
