starting problem

ok i did a search and found similar problems but not the same. when i turn my key to the on i used to be able to hear my fuel pump come on. now i dont. and i know that my opti is going bad. so now when i go to start it it will catch then die. if i hold the key o the start postition it will stay started but as soon as i release it dies. Any ideas? TIA

Re: starting problem

ok i think ive found it. if i hold the key just barely after the "on" position the car keeps running. but if i let it go like normal it will die. so does this mean my ignition switch is going out?
