starting trouble

when car is cold it takes a while to start. if i turn the key to on position a few times first it starts right away. I already changed fuel filter was wondering if it is the fuel pump. Thank you for your time.

Re: starting trouble

Best way to check is to use a fuel pressure gauge attached to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Fuel pressure should come up to the mid 30's after the fuel pump primes and hold fairly steady. If it drops pressure you have either a dirty/faulty fuel pump check valve, a leaky fuel injector or a faulty fuel pressure regulator.
