Still down on power...

Post Jet-Hot LT install track ETs are heavily dissapointing. Not only am I not going any faster, I lost a couple hundredths AND 3 mph in the 1/4. I threw in an LT4 KM hoping that was the problem, but to no avail. The car is a tad more responsive but I'm still running 13.8xxs@100.68 (which is my best with LTs). Prior, my best was 13.804@102.7 and my best trap was 103.7 mph back in May. Mods are in the sig.

My car is consistently trapping 100.5 and 100.7 mph being the best. Everything is in good working order. I just dont know what to do and why my car is so slow. I tried the drag racing forum but I think this requires a more technical point of view.

Were the weather conditions identical on both sessions? Did you hot lap the car? If both sessions had identical weather and engine operating temps, then its valid.

If that is the case, did any plug wires get burned on the new headers? Could you have bumped/damaged a spark plug during the install?

Also, it's possible your car could be running really rich after the LT header/ORY install. Don't know if the same holds true for LT1's, but LS1's air fuel ratio almost always ends up becoming very rich after headers are installed, thus causing many of them to actually lose power after the addition of the headers.

Simple fix is adjusting the AFR on a dyno with a MAFT or LT1 edit...

Good luck,

Mike

Each run was given about 30-45 minutes to cool down and ice on the intake. It doesnt really do too much on the LT1 intake but every bit helps. The final run was done in high 50* weather along with about an hour and a half of sitting. I pushed the car through the staging lanes as always and started it up about 3 min before I made my run. Both post LT sessions had similar weather. No plug wires have been burned or are even close and my plugs have been carefully handled. That shouldnt be a problem.

2000LS1Z28, I'm not too sure about the rich statusof my A/F. Seems like a logical assumption and it may be entirely possible and I doubt that an LS1 would behave differently in this respect than an LT1. I would like to take the car to a dyno and see what kind of power is being made and troubleshoot that way. Might be the best way to handle this. $600 for OBDII LT1 edit would be nice right about now.
