stock lt1 crank

how much horsepower is a stock crank good for? i was thinking of using a custom splayed 4 bolt main block, stock crank, with forged pistons and rods on a dd motor with nitrous.

Almost 10K miles and 422RWHP on nitrous. GM says the rods are good for 500hp. You gotta believe the crank is (and it is).

EDIT: Search for "broken stock crank". I doubt you'd find anything worthwhile.

There's a guy on turbomustangs.com that's making 680 rwhp through a TH400 using a stock SBC cast crank. He's running ~22 psi boost plus a 75 shot of nitrous and gone 9.7 at 141 mph. Also keep in mind that the stock LT1 crank is stronger than SBC due to the undercut journal radii.

stock crank is better than the cheeper aftermarket ones, just get it machined and reuse the one you have.

My crank broke with about 50k on the clock... But since ppl are running over 400rwhp on the stock crank Im beginning to beleive it was a manufacturing defect or major imbalance. The engine internals were completely stock except for 1.6rr's and lt4 springs.

I agree yours was a freak failure not the norm atall. There are 3 10 second stock shortblock b-bodies two heads/cam bottle one heads/cam/blower bottle, only one is a stripped car and it is still 3400lbs.

If you get down to WIR say hi.
