Stock LT1 Crank Specs needed
The accidental destruction of the crank in my LT1 destined for my 63 Nova (Engine slid out of the back of truck that was hauling it when accelerating away from a stoplight. A real down side of bead liners. Ouch!!!!) has made it necessary to get a new crankshaft. I found a NOS unit with the correct casting # but the cast # was also used ion a 350 non-LT1 crank. The seller swears it's an LT1 but better safe than sorry by checking I say. The easy way might be to pull all 8 piston/rods and do a full internal balance but the poor guy that was hauling the engine is springing for the a large part of the costs of repairs and I don’t want to make it more costly for my friend than need be; He already is beating himself up for not tieing the engine down. This was also a lift out package with low milage, so again why fully tear down a good engine if I can avoid it. What I need is the stock bobweight used on an LT1 or the stock weights of a rod, piston, pin and rings to figure the bobweight. I have seen posts of 1950grams – 1700 grams and 120 grams less than an LS1. The 1950 seems high because a stock 350 I know from experience is in the 1850 range. I have also seen posting that put it at similar to a 305. Unfortunately I have not been able to find that spec. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

To quote http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/ar99928.htm
"The crank for the LT1 looks just like the one in the late 350 and has the same casting number 14088526, but it’s balanced for the lightweight pistons that were installed in the LT1. Be sure to keep these cranks separate so they don’t end up in a regular 350, and don’t ever use a regular 350 crank in a LT1. In fact, if you are short of LT1 cranks and don’t have a balancing machine in your shop, you would be better off using a crank from a 305 instead of a 350 because it’s actually closer to the balance specs for the LT1 crank"
I would find someone I could trust for a new crank. I would sell you one, but it would need turned and just isn't worth it.

Re: Stock LT1 Crank Specs needed
I have some used stock diameter LT1 cranks in fine shape. I have sold some of them on eBay and to camaroz28.com members in the past. No comlaints. I presently have a stock LT1 crank on the for sale forum.
