Some people get away with using the stockers, but it is not usually recommended. Do a search...

I took this approach years ago with a cc306 and 1.65 rr. the problem I ran into was the lt1 heads were very poorly machined for alignment. with stock pushrods and guided plates I bent several slightly. then I went to good hardened ones which were 100 bucks and broke 2 of them due to misalignment. then I figured out the problem and got some isky adjustable guidplates did some grinding and positioning and all was well. Just make sure you use adjustable guidplates and get good hardened pushrods.
Lt1 pushrod holes are small and didn't leave much room for error.
