Must be a black car thing.
You could have if the intake manifold is not sealed to the heads well. The intake ports could then suck air and oil from the lifter valley.

Hmmm.....that could be getting somewhere. Could it possibly be fine cold then open up when warm??? I doubt what you described is going to be the problem, but it may come down to pulling the intake at some point. I'll keep that in mind.

Nothing new as of yet. They're going to give taking the cat off a shot, but I had it off after the problem started and you could see right through it. It would make sense though, it clogs up as it warms up. That's gonna be embarrassing if that's all it was though. After the cat doesn't work (which I'm fully expecting), they're going to do a compression/leakdown test, so we'll see......

try this

hey bro check it out. i had the same problem that you are having. have you checked for the fire works under the hood. look under the hood at night and look to see if you have any arching on any of your plugs or wires. the reason that i said plugs is because i droped one of my plugs while doing a tune up and the car would stumble and kick when the skip shift kicked in. i changed almost the intire ignition system before thinking to look under the hood. will it turns out that one of my plugs had a hair line crack in it. so you might want to check plugs first

I finally found out what was wrong with my car! I have bad fuel injectors. Not the nozzle themselves, but the electrical connections on the fuel injectors were totally messed up.

Finally I'm so glad that problem is fixed.

I hope you find your solution soon too.

Well, not that I was holding my breath or anything, but it wasn't the cat. I just got off the phone with FBC, and when I asked if the ran the car, the reply was:

"We ran it earlier without the cat, and it still ran like sh*t."

I swear I'm about to go ballistic on that mofoing car.

OptiStrikes again!

Well, My Opti crapped again! The rain gutter seal leaked..And since my the front of my car was pointing down..the water trickled down the intake and into my Opti!!! So, I need another.
Great.

Guess I should update this. On Monday 1 March I get a call from the shop. Dropped compression on #3 and #5. Leakdown was 45% on #5 and 35% on #3. A new 355/custom cam setup is in the works right now from AP Engineering.
