suppose you had...

Re: suppose you had...
Personally, I think there are much cheaper and more reliable ways to get that extra 100 hp. With the supercharger, you're going to have redo your exhaust to get its full benefit. I think it would be much cheaper and more reliable to do a head cam package. Lloyd Elliot's stage 2 package will get you an honest 400 hp at the wheels for $1600 Thas about what you could hope to get from a supercharger, but for about half the price and more reliability. For both you need full exhaust and a tune. Nitrous would get you there for around $500 and still drive stock until you want it.

No doubt about it... if you're building on a small budget, CAI, headers, catback or cut-out into the stock exhaust, 1.6 or 1.7RRs and springs, and a 150 shot is the cheapest way to go in an LT1. Cheapest b/c you don't have to go into the engine to upgrade to better pistons. There are MANY members here than have been spraying 150 shots on the stock bottom end for years with no problems. Although i don't recommend running over 450rwhp on the stock bearings, the stock rotating assembly works good with nitrous and can get you there pretty easily. Rebuild that bottom end with good bearings and forged components (or even stroke it), port the heads (or go AFRs), nice big HR cam, and throw a 200 shot on it. It'll have about the same manners as a stock engine, but make a lot more power NA (380-400rwhp) and a hell of a lot more on nitrous (550+).
High CR, hyper pistons, and boost is a bad combination for disaster. FI kits are expensive enough by themselves, and for the $3000+ price tag (just for a SC kit alone) you can build a strong bottom end and run a N2O setup.
There are many routes you could take. Give us a budget you'd like to stick with and the people here can give you a TON of ideas.

So, lets just say, the car he might come across in his near future would be mine and i'm intrested in the same type of thing. I don't want nitrous, and superchargers are too expensive, so what are my engine options? if i was to start modding and not sell it, i would want it to run 12.4-12.8. Who sells these engine packages that could help me acheive my goals. And perferibly i would NOT want to touch the bottom end. What do you guys think.. prices? Options? packages?

Re: suppose you had...
For reliability without the rebuild, I'd do a modest heads/cam swap and then add a 100-150 shot of gas.
The LT1/Blower no no is the high compression ratio and the cast pistons. Most people end up breaking a ringland or two. An intercooler and alky will help to a degree, but most of us just accept the fact that we'll be rebuilding the motor sooner or later.
