Suspension question please help!
Ok here is my question I have a guy that builds EFI cars for the NMCA and he is making me a custom torque arm for my car and he has said that on a lot of these cars instead of putting aftermarket lower control arms & panhard rod he said that he takes off the stock ones and just boxes them in and replaces the bushings. Has anybody done this?? I know it works because this guys shop builds 8-10 second f-bodies and other efi cars so I just kinda wanna get some feedback to see if anyone else has done this??

i've heard of that being done many times. i guess it just depends on whether you can do it yourself or not. if you have to take it to a welder or a shop it wouldn't be saving you much money. by the time you bought new bushings (say $25) and found some steel to weld in, paid a welder to weld it up, you'd almost have the cost of a set of good greasable, nicely powder coated lca from BMR ($90), and you have your choice of bushings combos.
bout the same with the phb

Actually the guy is just helping me out trying to get my car to hook up he does this for fun like I had said he builds NMCA cars & he just gets a kick out of these cars & he's a very good friend of my bosses he is NOT charging me anything for the steel and the welding the only thing that he's charging me for is like $50 for the material to make my custom torque arm, and the cost of the bushings. And he said he is gonna have the LCA's and the panhard rod powdercoated for me @ no charge because his brother owns the shop. I basically wanted to see if there was a difference in performance and if anyone has done this??

sounds like a deal to me, boxed, powdercoated, and new bushings!! why not!
you should feel a difference in handeling, if you plan to do any drag racing, you may want to look into relocation brackets as well for the lca's...will help straight line traction
