T56 swap done... car vibrates like crazy above 3K RPM

Exclamation T56 swap done... car vibrates like crazy above 3K RPM

Yay for me, the T56 swap is done. The car has a T56 with about 60K on it, brand new McLeod street twin with the adj. master and a pro 5.0. I'm still using the stock steel driveshaft, and 2.73's in the rear (until Friday when I get a chance to swap in the 4.10's).

Anyways I decided to check that everything was working so I took the car out for a spin just through the neighborhood and down a dead side street.

The car seemed to run fine but once I hit 3K the car felt like it was going to explode. The interior began rattling like CRAZY. The entire car felt like it was shaking. The shifter wasn't rattling back and forth or anything so I know it was in gear. No weird crunching or grinding from the tranny, just a HARD rattling noise that intensified the more gas I gave it. As soon as I dropped below 3K it died off.

I pulled back in the neighborhood, and the car seemed to drive fine, no problems. In the driveway I decided to pop it in neutral and rev it. Sure enough, right around 3K the vibration appeared again and intensified as I gave it more gas. Also the speedo started to rise a little. As soon as I let off the gas things were back to normal.

Any ideas?

you need to have the flyhweel/pressure plate assemble balanced to your old flex plate..

I third that, and I wouldn't drive it until you can get the rebalancing done. If it's rattling as bad as you say, bad things could possibly happen.

Hmm... any special places that I might need to go and get this done, or can I just take it to a NAPA or something?
