Are Taylor Thundervolt wires overkill for a stock motor?

I have a Crane coil but what I like about the wires is the 600 degree heat protection. I'm going to use them with the NGK Iridium plugs as well so it will be a while before I have to change either of them, hopefully a long time.

I figure they would last longer than the regular Taylor wires.

Thoughts, opinions? Thanx, Rob

No experience with those, but i know moroso makes good wires, cant be overkill for stock engine, if you want the thundervolts go for it, they sound good. Also what NGK plugs, make sure they are TR55s unless you are running N2O

I'm going to try the Iridium plugs. Especially since I still have the cast iron exhaust manifolds I don't want to be changing copper plugs frequently.

Is this your opinion or is it a fact? I was told to run Taylors next time I replace my wires. So I would really like to know what are good wires to run and why. Thanks -----------> Brad

i don't know exactly how you can prove something is junk but most of the guys here buy the OTVC kit that comes with taylors and once the taylors start arcing which is almost immediately they ditch them. I had taylors and ditched them, my friend did, and a good hunk of people on the board i believe have had them and ditched them.

Again what would you recommend, then. Should I get the MSDs mentioned below? I want to get some wires that can withstand the heat from my headers. Do you guys recommend any high heat wires? Or should I just buy aftermarket high heat sleaves that go over the boots? I want to do this right the 1st time and appreciate your opinions. ------------> Brad

I have MSD's, i believe those or moroso's are the popular "good" brands.

Yeah, but are there not several different models of wires that both MSD and Moroso carries? What would you guys recommend doing about my wires being so close to the headers? ------> BRad

Lightbulb

I have the Taylor OTVC kit, and it's great. No complaints here.

I've had the MSD Superconductors and they burned from the headers quicker than any other. I then got Taylors and they just suck, I replaced them soon, preventative maintenance I guess. I also had Taylors on my previous Mustang and they lasted 6 months.

I now have the Accel 300+ race wires and they show no signs of wear or heat damage. These are the best wires I've run yet.
I also run some cheap Accel superstock wires on my GTP and they are perfect as well. Very underrated if you ask me.

I have "Made for you" ovc looms. Whats a good replacement wire besides Talyor. I assume they have to be a universal set that I can cut to length. Also, what's size wire will fit well in these looms. I hate big wires in small loom holes.
