TCI super streetfighter converters

I was reading on texas speed.com about the TCI super streetfighter converters. they are only like 425.00. I was thinking about getting one but wanted to see what everyone thought about them, are they good , bad , okay?

I had one on my 01 LS1 SS. I loved it. It was an SSF 3500, also had a TransGo shift kit and B&M tranny cooler. Really woke up the car. I went from a consistent 13.3-4 w/ decent traction on street tires to a 13.0 with no traction on street tires. Unfortunately I never got to run it with drag radials because a soccer mom hit me at about 40mph and totalled my car. Street manners are excellent with that str and stall. It sometimes felt a little loose when slowing to a stop, was my only complaint, but tuning would have taken care of that.

that sucks that your car got totaled. Did you have any drivability issues because I drive my car every day and that is kind of important.

Mine was a daily driver too, no problems. I'm sure others will chime in but I really liked it.

My one experience with TCI was not good. Poor quality and even worse customer service. Not a good combination. If price is an issue, then Midwest makes some good pieces. But if you have the money, the Vigilante is the only way to fly.

Obvioisly by the handle my car is not an F-body but with an LT1 and 4L60E close enough right .

I had a bad experiance with a TCI converter, hub runout was .100" drivability with a 2600 stall was crappy. I now have a 2800 9.5" Edge Racing Converters, I love it drivability is better even with the slightly higher stall. They build it FOR YOU not off the shelf, and the the price is only like $510, the Impala guys have had a few GPs on them as well, lots of happy customers there.
Honestly this thing is so nice at low speeds, I can even let the car just idle(ZZ3 cam so slightly higher than stock) out of the driveway, yet punch it and it hits hard. At leat worth a look. Now back to my lurking.

Well I must investigate edge racing torque converters too, that is very cheap also. I am mainly looking for a good converter that will not put a big hurt on my wallet like a vigilante or something. Want to do like a 3500 stall

I should also add that I have 2.93 gears and drivability is good with those. I have better gears awaiting install but the stockers are just fine for now, wife even doesn't mind it.

I'm running a TCI 3000-3200 on my daily driver and love it. Only problem is traction but that is a problem with a solution.

I have a TCI breakaway which is 2600 to 2800.
I really like it, but since I don,t drive the car daily I should have went higher on the stall.
No complaints with TCI, good converter at a good price.
