Question Temp gauge stopped working.

Just tonight when I was driving home, I noticed that my temp gauge was not working. Just earlier today it was working fine. The needle never moves up to show me the temp of my car, the needle just stays horizontal and parallel to the ground. Any ideas as to why it's not working? Could it be that I need a new thermostat? If so, can anyone direct me to where I can pick up a new thermostat and the part # please? Thanks in advance.

could be the temp sending unit. it is located in the driver side block just under the head. it is a single wire connector. make sure that it is plugged in. I belive if you take the connector off and ground it the gauge should read it's highest and that will verigy that the gauge and wiring is ok and it's time for a new sending unit

The sensor is actually in the driver's side cylinder head, between and just below the exhaust ports for cylinders 1 and 3.

I agree,
I did the !air mod today and forgot to plug the unit back up.
I went down the road and got no reading on the temp gauge.
I came back home and let the car just idle. The fans would kick on but no temp reading. The dreaded "Oh ****" factor started to kick in when I noticed that the temp sending unit wasn't plugged in. I hooked it back up and boom, we have a temp reading again.
