at 16:1, I would have aborted the pull and pulled it off the dyno.

I always thought the higher the afr number was the more lean it was also, but i was told it was running rich by the guys there and the fact that it smelled so bad and would burn everyones eyes made me believe i was wrong and that it was running rich.

Whenever anyone would stomp the gas it puffs out black smoke like a rich condition as well, strange eh?
Gonna put my scanner on it this evening and see if it comes up with anything...

Thanks for the replies everyone

That makes me think the dyno's wideband o2 sensor might have not been working properly.

I hooked a fuel pressure gauge up and ran WOT and thru town with the FPR and it held at 39-40psi at WOT and about 38 at idle. I disconnected the vacum line to it and the fuel pressure would go up or down a few PSI but nothing major. Few others took a look at it also and said it appeared to be operating fine, what do you think????

I agree somethings up with the fuel pressure too. Idle (40 psi with reg and 45 with vacuum line to reg pulled) and it should jump up at WOT to around 45 not hang out around 39-40. (Wahlbro 255 should be enough to feed that beast......FPR jacked up????)

Ok i tried my scanner on it and it wont communicate
Dumb question but how do u up the pressure on the fpr? Which way do i turn the bolt thing?
I cant reach it but if i do i will need to know this...
ahhh fun fun fun....

Now theres a nitrous line running back there around the FPR some place (have nitrous installed but the bottle is sitting in the house untill its running right) of course i cant see where it plugs into

*EDIT** the nitrous line doesnt go to the fpr i dont think but i did pull the vacum line off of it. gonna run it like that this evening since that should, in theory, increase fuel pressure slightly...

keep the replies coming :-)

black smoke/puffs = detonation.

Most PFR are adjusted Right = More pressure/Left + Less.

Don't beat on that car until you can get it tuned. Don't even put a bottle near the car until it has been dialed in and problem solved.

oh God....

I wont beat on it, i drive it like an old man anyway. Never planned on using the bottle untill all is well. I Took the bottle out so the cops wouldnt bother me about it anyway.
It wont be driven much untill its tuned and will be babied as well.

The fun never ends with these projects lol

I wouldn't drive it period since your part throttle tune is probably off too.. you don't want to wash out the rings.

Extremely lean. I'm actually surprised your motor is still in one piece, hopefully it's fine internally. Most N/A tuners shoot 12.5-13.0 on N/A cars.

That's where mine is with the CAM tune right now. Actually at 12.9 @ WOT according to my wideband.

Seriously, I'd rent a trailer and tow it up there. You have too much invested to do this again.
