Is there a drain to get rid of leaking coolant around the heater core?
Hate to beat a dead horse here because I've been asking a lot of questions about my cooling system problems lately, but I have a simple one here. Basically I'm trying to figure out what my car does with the half gallon of coolant it makes disappear within two days. I know for sure the heater core is leaking. However, I would assume that if that whole half a gallon per two days thing was going through the heater core my floorboard over there would be soaked. It is damp under there, but nothing major, and when I took the plastic shroud off around the heater core there was some coolant in there, but only puddled in the corners.
Is there a drain for the heater core that lets the leaking coolant run to the outside of the car??

The heater core is very easy to remove and replace in the 4th gen. I have did it 3 times in my 95 Z. I suggest if you think the core is leaking, just bypass it. Pull the 2 hoses off from inside the enginebay on the firewall. Sorry can't remeber the sizes they are. I don't know if you need heat or not in Nashville, but a good, easy way to troubleshoot the heater core.

I had my heater core leak and every where i would drive it would just constantly being leaking above the area where the cat is...I would stop at a light and it would form a puddle(I rarely use the AC so it wasn't that)....so it could just be leaking while you are driving and when you turn off the car it leaks into the cabin.
Whatever you do, DO NOT put the car up on ramps once coolant has passed into the heater core unless the ramps are on all wheels, I found out putting the front end up only causes the coolant to completely fall into the floor boards.

You might as well change to a new heater core. It is gonna get cold soon in Nashville, TN. I changed out my heater core in my Z28 and it actually was not that difficult. The heater cores are not that expensive either. I capped my hoses until I changed mine out with some large bolts inserted in them and hose clamps to secure.
