Just ordered a set from SDPC today, for a 383 Le2

pt sd8689 217.85 /set

Ls7 Lifter preload according to ls1tech, 1 to 1-1/2 turns.

crane did some testing and found that .060" of preload (cold) is best for hp, using (there) lifter. Thats around 1-1/2 turns.. They claim they made 20hp more than using the standard 0.010" (cold)preload setting..

not sure if that applies to these lifters or not

.060" is 1 1/5 turn on 7/16" studs and 1 1/2 turns on 3/8" studs, just in case anyone was wondering.

I'm guessing this would be better since it can keep more pressure on the lobes without losing compression or lift. Any more comments about what applications would require these and how to set them up, Bret?

Don't follow that preload.... it's almost always better with less. Crane maybe one case but I would say that every set of lifters I have dynoed did better with less preload.

Wow, I'm glad to see the reception to these. I wasn't sure if I was off my rocker or not when I posted this because I thought someone has got to know about them and mentioned it here.

Whoever had it, thanks for the part number. I was just getting ready to find it.

Mainly, I'm just glad that there's a less expensive but quality alternative now.

Not true, .060 is about 3/4 turn on a 7/16 stud, it would be 1 1/5 if thepushrod was right under the polylock but it isn't. And I would follow what bret says about the preload. Just out of curiosity, why do they make more power with less preload? I always wondered that but can't find an answer anywhere.

This should make a bunch of people happy. Nice to see a thread with some seemingly good news in it.

OK..I'm trying to figure all this out. I always adjust my valves with the motor running. When I did my CC305 cam with COMP "stock replacement" lifters, I went 1/4 turn past "chatter". Wouldn't 1 turn past zero equal 1 turn past "chatter" with the engine running?

At the point where chatter just stops, that should be effectively zero lash.
