I put in an MSD Coil just 2 days ago. no probs so far, well only prob I had when installing it was....the bolts that came with the coil that replace the rivets that holds the old coil in were a little to big to fit thru the holes, but a quick meeting with the drill and everything was dandy. Never heard of any1 else having that prob, so maybe it was just limited to me.

i have never really noticed any difference between the msd and GM coils. Just get whichever one is cheaper.

I got 40,000 miles out of my MSD before it started arcing. Was still working alright, but I just changed it out for another one last week.

MSD coils are excellent in my opinion . The MSD 6a spark control boxes are also the best of the best (in fact i have some literature revealing dyno results of the MSD units versus some of the OTHER top brands). In a nutshell, the MSD unit outperformed all competitors! And, No I dont work for MSD. I am pretty sure most of the winston cup teams run MSD exclusively.

I assume the MSD coil just comes with the coil right? it doesnt come with the assembly or brackets? I tried replacing my coil this weekend with some ****ty brand just to see if it would make a difference because mine was arching. But when i took the coil assembly out, I couldnt remove the coil from it. The "screws" that were holding the two metal brackets together werent exactly screws. They were rounded on each end, and no they werent stripped. Well anyways, i just put the old one back in. Has anybody else come across this?

You can use a Dremel with a cutting wheel and buzz the heads off those rivets.
