Those who have X-pipes on their LT1s

Those who have X-pipes on their LT1s
I currently have true dual 3 inch exhaust with an X pipe and dynomax bullit race mufflers. However this setup has become a littel too loud for me. Andthe exhaust dumps under the and comes back thru the A/C. So I have been wantingto getthe mufflex 4 inch setup. But Im afraid if I take off my Xpipe I will lose horsepower. ( as much at 15 HP) Has anyone had both types of exhasut before? I would really like to keep my x pipe and just change my mufflers and have piepes made to exit hte exhaust at the rear bumper liek it was stock.
Will I lose power by going with the mufflex 4 inch ?

Yes, I had true 3" duals that cut before rear axle with two bullet mufflers . Car was loud, and I would get exhaust fumes in my cabin. I did satisfy my ego at that time, but I did't have enough ground clearance, and I could not take my car to the shop (no cats). Not something you want to have when you riding with a girl . I noticed that I didn't have enough back pressure on low RPM's, but after 4000 rpm's the car was fast. Now I have 3" BORLA with no pressure plate, car is way louder than my true dual setup. Can't wait to get my DMH electric cutout (monday). I would say that 3" is enough if you use a cutout. No ground clearance issues, no panhard rod issues, saves lots of headacke. I read that 4" mufflex have troubles going over rear axles, don't know for sure though. I haven't found anybody making 4" cutouts too.
If you want to scare some ricer, get a double electric cutout right after the Long Tube headers

with my car making over 500 fly wheel power N/A and over 700 HP on N20 a 3 inch borla catback will not be enough. The mufflex 4 inch setup is the only aftermarket system I have seen that will flow enough for me. I can easily put a set of 3 inch cutouts after my headers, but the Xpipe makes more power than open headers.

I have true dual bullets with x pipe and never get fumes in the car. I was really expecting to smell a lot of exhaust when i got the work done, but I have yet to get fumes in the car. The X pipe is right under the pass. seat. But I also got my turndowns at the axle to turn-"out" and not dumped directly underneath the car.

I've had both setups. Didn't notice much if any of a power difference. I used to have dual 3" cutouts after the headers as well, and I gained nothing over the full 4" exhaust with the Spintech dual outlet muffler. The only thing they were good for was the sound which was fun for cruises and such, but they ultimately cost me too much ground clearance. I wouldn't hesitate about going to the 4" setup, although I'd use either of the Spintech mufflers over the Flowmaster. Even if you do loose 10 horsepower, is that really worth more than having bearable sound levels?

Usually tunning can resolve the 'fumes' problem at idle... I had duals/x-pipe/ and dumps and had no fumes issue.
As far as power duals vs a 4" mufflex, Chuck did a dyno comparison.
