thoughts on a cc306 with this valvetrain setup
in a 100k mile LT1, mods as follows: CAI, long tubes and full exhaust, stock everything else, a simple cam swap, including these parts, yours thoughts.....
306 cam
Crane 10308 valve spring kit
Hardened 7.2 pushrods
3/8 Self Aligning 1.6 Roller Rockers
stock lifters
stock(replaced) timing chain
should be good to go?

6 speed and 3.42s, hoping to do 4.10s eventually. and a dynotune would be in the picture of coarse. just wanting the parts to be decent for each other. im aware that 7/16 studs, guideplates and whatnot would be the best thing but i'd like to keep it simple. motor wont be abused but it will be used for what its meant prolly see around 6500

It would be smart to replace the timing gears with the chain. Although people do just replace only the chain, this "can" be done but shouldn't. You should always replace a timing chain and sprockets as a set, they wear together. You may not be able to see the wear by just looking at it but its there. You are far more likely to have a timing chain failure without replacing the sprockets as well.

Whats the spring info? I'm not looking it up....
Pushrods are worth the mony....so get good ones. You can get good ones for under $100

hehe no prob 96' form.
i've always heard about loose timing chains on LT1s, my old WS6, i noticed alot of slack in the stocker and simply swapping the chain took out enough slack to satisfy me.
the springs will hold up im sure, they have ****ty "shims" but i didnt have problems with them on my old car.
as far as pushrods, will some basic hardened ones do alright (thunder racing has comp "hi-energery hardened PR's 7.2 length" for under 40 bucks.
and stock lifters (assuming good shape upon teardown) will suffice with a 306 ya....?
thanks guys

those work good. and cheap
don't buy those elcheapo welded ones.
The lifter should be fine....I have never used anything besides a stock lifter

They will work alright, but some people like myself upgrade to the one piece pushrods just for piece of mind. The hardened ones for about $40 are usually welded tips and are made of three different pieces.
If you want a good price on some very low mileage 7.2 hardened pushrods and comp guide plates, shoot me a PM. I just switched mine out last minute before we put the motor back in my car. PM me here or over on PC.

my old setup was as follows, it saw 6300 RPM and 125 wet shot of nitrous....
224/224 cam
10308 crane spring kit
comp hardened 7.2 pushrods
LT4 1.6 3/8 self aligning Roller Rockers
stock lifters
stock timing chain
like i said, never had problems with the setup and it was doing around 425 horse on the juice, rev limiter set to 6500, shifting around 6300

Other than I don't like the cheezy shims in the 10308 kit, I do like those Crane springs. I'd like to see someone post their installed height with this kit to see if there is a way to use a decent spring locator and achieve a 1.80" installed height.
