throttle body hose questions
I feel like an idiot asking but. What are the three hoses coming off the passenger side of the throttle body? I noticed the top one had oil on it. Is this a bad sign or normal. It's coming off the top of the valve cover. Thanks.

those hoses are there to keep the throttle body blades from sticking in the winter. cooling actually flows through the throttle body unless you have had a throttle body bypass done. And no, it is not common for engine oil to be on the hoses.

Not exactly.....
The larger diameter top hose on the passenger side, connected to the passenger valve cover, supplies air that has been filtered and measured by the MAF to the valve cover. From there, the PCV valve vacuum pulls the clean air through the crankcase and the lifter valley to pull the blowby and other harmful crankcase gasses out. If you have a little bit of oil in that line, its somewhat normal. If you have a lot, take the top cover off the throttle body and look for a puddle of oil. That may indicate the PCV valve is plugged, or the engine is experiencing excessive blowby due to worn rings.
The next, smaller line from the top on the paasenger side is the vacuum hose for the EVAP purge system, that pulls collected fuel vapor out of the charcoal canister in the drivers rear fender. You should not see any oil in that line.
The lowest line on the passenger side, is connected to the bottom plate, not the actual throttle body itself. That is the coolant supply line. The return is on the lower plate, on the driver's side. There should not be any oil in those lines. In theory, they prevent "throttle body icing", but that's not really a problem unless you live north of the Arctic Circle.

The oil was on the top hose only. It was just a little bit. Just looked out of place and want to make sure.
I need to replace the second hose. Is that a dealer part, can I get it at the auto parts store or do I have to go to the junk yard?
