Question Throttle Body System

I have a '94 Camaro Z28 & my rpm'z are runnin' at 2K. I took it 2 my mechanic & he said my throttle body system is done. He said there's a leak & since Chevy doesn't make the part anymore, it's hard 2 get a new 1. The price he said he could find 1 4 is 2 MUCH!!! Does any1 have any advice or leads on a throttle body system? All responses welcome.

**I live in Long Beach, CA.**

there is a ton of after market throttle bodies, there are some vendors on here and there is always the salvage yard. find a buick roadmaster or caprice. no one really thinks those cars have such a alsome motor they are left alone usually.

Are you sure it not just the IAC(Idle Air Control) or the TPS(Throttle Position Sensor)????????

Sound like one of those, possible..... And stock throttle body are easy to find for around 50~100 dollars...

What codes are there????

The throttle bodies themselves usually don't fail. The throttle body is composed of several other parts that could malfuntion, the TPS sensor and IAC valve being some of them. His diagnosis seems a little vague, I would try to get some more details on exactly what is at fault.

What exactly is the car doing? Of course it idles at 2k like you said but does it do anything else thats not normal? I have a stock TB from my car that I can sell you but it probably won't fix your problem since it has no sensors in it.

He says I need the following:

TPS
Idle Speed Control Valve or Motor

The Throttle Body itself has an internal vacuum leak, so he said I should just get a Throttle Body System.

Frankly, I would get a second opinion, it almost seems like the diagnostics was "guesswork."

If you just need a TPS sensor and a IAC I have plenty lying around that I would be willing to sell for cheap. I have collected many of these over the past few years and keep the good looking ones around for replacements. PM me if your intersted.
