throttle positioning sensor

I just bought an AC Delco IAC motor and I was thinking about just replacing the TPS also with an AC Delco unit while I'm in there. Is there any special trick to replacing the TPS or do you just swap it out for the new one?

Welllllll...... to change the TPS sensor, you would remove the two screws and take the old one off the side of the throttle body. Then make sure the seal was still in the hole in the TB, insert the new TPS sensor, jiggling it slightly to make sure the shaft is correctly indexed in the slot, rotate is slightly so the holes in the sensor line up with the holes in the TB, and put the two screws back in.

it keeps unmetered air out of your motor, a leaking seal would be a vacuum leak

a vacuum leak through the throttle shaft? that doesnt make much sense cause the tps only covers about 60% of the opening. guess i could try a little experiment with that to verify it.

Why replace it? It is a very simple reliable "mechanical" sensor. For whatever reason it does fail, it won't leave you stranded and is easy to replace.
