The shortblock is a real concern with the rpms that cam will need. Rod bearings in particular.

I would recommend a fresh oil pump relief spring and a metal oilpump driveshaft, melling is about $7 on the driveshaft, the "white" spring from GM is a higher pressure spring but more importantly NEW, about $4 from Summit.
Due to some confusion I ended up with like 4 white springs so if you have a hard time finding one let me know, would not be looking to profit.

My 10x,000 opti started was getting oil into it from the driveshaft.
Also, as for cam bearings, my builder insisted that I go with a high quality
cam bearing due to the radical nature of the Joe O. grind/ Comp 977 solid roller
springs.

As far as oil pumps,
Get the pick-up/tube tack welded onto the body of the pump
because they like to work their way loose and end up in the bottom
of your oil pan. This happened to me as well as many others on this board.
Dwayne's info is spot on regarding the springs and such
and you'd be smart to take him up on his offer.
If you do re-work the stocker, clean the crap out of it and get it nice
and fresh before replacing.
