timming off?? popping backfire??
my 95 z28 has been having stumble/hesitation in low rpms.....i have a popping backfire once the car has been running for more then 2 minutes...it gets worse as the car heats up more...im running lean code 44 which is makin the car get horrible gas mileage....today the car wouldnt start...it would turn over but not start...like it wasnt getting any fuel.......maybe the fuel filter is clogged?? could this cause the stumble?? thanx alot

It certainly could. Might as well get a fuel pressure gauge and find out. Hopefully its something in your fuel, because those were my symptoms when my opti went. Backfiring at first, then sputtering, then knocking. At higher rpms it didn't knock, but there was significant power loss. But you might as well check the fuel first since that's what's easier and could be throwing the code. But either way don't feel bad, both my ignition and my fuel system have been giving me crap since I bought my car.

When my rod was knocking i had a very similar problem with mine the knock sensor was backing the timing off so much it would cause it to run like **** and i had no power. Hopefully this isnt the case for you its more than likely clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, or maybe it could be some bad injectors im not sure on that one i have never had an injector problem (knock on wood) but ive had every other problem
