tires for my formula
My B/stone S-02's (275/40/17) are getting old now after 7 years of driving so I'm in the market for new skins. I would love to put a set of Michelin Pilot Sports on it but that would cost me around 2 G's canadian for the tires alone.
I checked the net and came across these two possibilities:
Nitto nt-555 extreme zr:www.nittotire.com/tire_nt555_overview.asp
www.discounttiredirect.com sells them for U.S. $171 ea.
or
Yokohama AVS es100:www.yokohamatire.com/TireIntro.asp?TireID=9
discount tire sells it for U.S. $134 ea.
I can do the yoko's here since I have a connection through work to get those tires, all said and done I could have new skins on the Formula for around $1100-1200 canadian. For nitto's I would have to get them in the U.S. but the pricing should be a little more than the yokes but still a lot cheaper than the michelins.
Anybody driving on the above mentioned tires? Give me some feedback on them please, likes and dislikes.
FYI discount tire sells the michelin pilot sport (275/40/17) for $301 U.S. ea. That's gotta hurt!!!

i have not used either tires but i will give you my opinion. my friend has the nittos on his mustang and they don't hook very good. they handle pretty good though. if your interested in straight line traction then i would not recommend the nittos. the yoko's, i have never seen in action. however, these tires look pretty cool. i would try these out. i don' t know if you care about tread life but the yoko's probally won't last nearly as long as the nittos. if it was me i would get the es100's because i was not at all impressed with the 555's. also, try looking at www.onlinetires.com and www.treaddepot.com. i believe these prices will be much better. however, i don' t know if both of these places carry those two tires and i don't know what shipping will be. i have bought tires from treaddepot and they have good customer service. good luck and let us know what you decide on.
