Too many miles for a stall?

Too many miles for a stall?
I put this in the drivetrain section but didn't any replies so maybe I will have better luck here. I am thinking about putting a stall converter in my car but with 141 k on the dial I am kind of worried the tranny won't handle it. I haven't had any problems with the tranny so should I go for it or not? Anyone put a TC in with around the same mileage? Help me out here

this ur first tranny?
if it is just make sure u get it done by someone who knows what they are doing.
my friend had a 2600 put in at 55k, and it grinded away every gear in about 4 months... the repair shop said it would do this every time and its normal... so obvously the repair shop knew nothing of how to do it... so get someplace that knows stalls

I wouldn't risk it only because with 155k miles, the trans is destined to go soon, and when it does, its going to take the converter with it, so you'll be out a converter and trans when it goes. I would rebuild the trans first, then get a stall. You can always flush the converter if the trans blows, but that will still cost alot of $$ to do it right. Good luck.

WITH traction (drag radials, et streets, etc), the car will not shift from 1st to 2nd, hitting the rev limiter, setting a code and soft landing in 3rd.
Most 94-95 cars with 2800+ stalls have this problem but there are also some that don't.

so how do you fix the high stall problem... i dont have a stall yet, but will in the future...? i was gonna go with a 3000 TCI stall. i have a fresh tranny in it with high pro parts and a shift kit... so am i more than likely gonna see this "problem"???

You will be pushing it. IF you do put in a high stall, just assume that it will bust up your tranny and have a little cash reserve set aside for it. If you can't afford that, then I wouldnt be looking into a stall right now.

Between gears and a torque converter which one will I feel the most of off the line and from a roll? I have 2.73 gears now and will probably go with 3.42 and the stall is a 2800 with a 2.5 str

"Quantity has a quality all its own"
lmao that is a good one jetlag.
the 2.73 gears are kinda crappy you would probably wanna change out for something a lil higher. I'm probably gonna keep my 3.23s and go with like a 2400 stall or something like that , nothin too wild.
