Totally confused. What does this mean?

On freescan my MAP is reading .395 and my BAR is reading is 1.033. The MAP volts are 1.55. These are idle readings. Compared to injuneer's sensor page, these don't make a bit of sense. Please help!

since the BAR reading comes from the MAP sensor... im gonna bet your MAP sensor is bad. when you blip the throttle.. does the MAP reading increase any?

I hit the throttle and it increased slowly from .395 to .200 and so on. The MAP is not coming up in the trouble codes or anything though. I have been reading that 9.5 as norm for map. Seems I'm way off.

yeah that sounds like a bad sensor for sure unless you some how arent using freescan correctly so the readings look funny.

I think I'm using it right. All the other readings are fine, except for MAP an BAR.

The readings you are getting appear to be some multiple of "pascals"...... its just the way they are showing the decimal point that is odd.

Normal barometer (BAR) is 103 kPa. That would appear to correspond to BAR = 1.033...... or 103.3kPa. MAP at idle with a stock cam should be about 1/3 of BAR, so I would expect to see 34 or 35kPa. Your reading appears to be 39.5 kPa.... or a shade on the high side, by not irrational.

A MAP voltage of 1.55 corresponds to roughly 37 or 38 kPa, so it appears your sensor is putting out fairly normal readings. Just that the idle MAP (remember BAR-MAP = vacuum) appears to be a little on the high side.... or vacuum is only 18.5"Hg, where you might be looking for 20"Hg.

Thanks injuneer and turbo_z for your replies. I'm going to do some cruising with the laptop connected and see what my readings are also.
