Totally new ignition, car keeps dying.
To all,
I need your help fellas. A couple of weeks ago I thought my Opti went out. I'm still sure it was bad. Just got it all back together. I put a Dynaspark Opti on it as well as a MSD Digital6, HVC II coil, Super Conductor wires, and NGK TR55 plugs at .045. The first time it fired right up. Turned it off to adjust the rev limiter for testing and when I went to start it again, nothing. Power seemed drained. Jumped it and it ran for a while with the volts falling. That was my fault, the alternator plug wasn't plugged in. Battery was crap, so a new one went in. No problems. That was all yesterday. Today, it starts and runs fine... for about 20-30 minutes. Then it sputters uncontrollably, backfires violently, and eventually dies not to start again for a while. No amount of crankning will start it. Later on, starts as if nothing ever happened.
The last thing is perhaps the most crucial, you guys let me know. I didn't have time to put the filter back on the FIPK that mounts below the fascia. I know, it's stupid to drive with it off, but I needed to get to work. It is very wet around here right now, could this be why. Any other ideas would help me a ton.
Thanks to all you true brothas out there for reading this thread, and even more to those that have ideas.

I'm an idiot, but sounds like you fried the coil,(or coil wire). But what baffles me is why are you using an after market (digital 6) with such an expensive optispark?I thought the after market ignition thing was to smooth out the original opti, but I dunno.Anyway, try disconecting the digital thing, and see if that helps.Well,it's beer o'clock here, gotta go.My02
