TPS Question....

TPS Question....
I have an on-going problem, I run a Holley 52mm TB and have PCM tuning, shorties etc...but, when I'm doing about 25/35 mph and put my foot down and kick in the passing gear, the car will respond but then throws the SES lite and i lose 2/3/4 gear (A4) have heard this could be do to the 52mm Holley TB, I reset the computer via neg. battery cable and all is well again untill I hit the kick down again and everything repeats itself again....if i manual shift, no problems, this is a 97 SS w/4L60E and have replaced the TPS sensor twice, the sensor is good.......question is, do I need to switch back to the 48mm stock TB ??
Thanks for any info..

First of all, DONT shift your 4L60E manually. If it is throwing a code, then get it scanned to see what it tells ya. Then check the TPS sensor on a scanner with the car off and slowly dpress the pedal watching its value slowly go up on the scanner. Look for any dead spots in its signal. Also, i dont think it would matter, but check to see that your Cruise control cable is also connected properly... Good luck

Just the SES lite, first time it happened, I took it to the dealer, said it was the TPS sensor and was replaced, but has happen a few times since and have swapped out the TPS senor several times now, i have 3 of them...i never had this problem till i put the 52mm on, just wondering if there is a 52mm tps senseor as this seem to be the problem other than that, no problems with the A4, was hopeing the PCM tune with Mad/Z28 for a 52mm TB would have fixed it but didn't....any ideas?

Need to know the SES code you are getting to try and help you further. Or, do you have a multi meter? Check the TPS voltage going to the PCM while the blades are closed. If the voltage is between .2 and .9 volts you should be OK. You *might* have a problem if on the extreme low or high end of that band but that is unlikely. If you are in that band and within .3 to .8 then you probably have a problem other than your TPS.
