trans cooler location

trans cooler location
Has anyone installed a cooler where the air filter would normally be on non-ram air cars? I just have the empty space and was wondering if I should mount my supercooler there. Or am I just being silly?
Any thoughts or comments?

Actually it's next to the radiator and in front of the fuse box. I figured that there should be enough cool air coming in there, that's where the cars get their air from... I know that everyone has the cooler in front of the radiator, I just like being different...

On the front of the radiator the air is forced through the unit which is how it works. Also The trans lines are on the passanger side on the engine, you have to route them accross the bay to do this. IMHO save that space for a ignition box.

I have my trans cooler up in the front of the drivers side fender, where the filter in the typical CAI would sit. But its a fan assisted unit.... since my car was originally an M6 and the radiator didn't have any cooler at all. The PermaCool unit easilly handles the load from a non-locking convertor with 5Krpm flash at 800ft-lb.... .

actually, the air is forced up in that area. if you look up under our cars, that black "spoiler" or air deflector that we drag coming out of every parking lot in Ohio...that thing deflects the air up into that non-ram-air location. after deflecting off the deflector, it go through the "gill" inlets which are designed in the plastic panel and into that box area. as long as your non-ram-air car has those gills and the deflector (which also feeds the air to the radiator from the looks of things) then you should have air in that location.
on another note, Kris stated that we want air to move across the radiator and trans cooler. i'm not disagreeing with this statement but with the trans cooler, don't the coolant lines run from the radiator? if this is true then the temperature of the trans cooler will be approximately the same as the temp of the radiator coolant. this being said, and assuming that it makes sense, then locations is not really a factor if you don't mind routing lines.
i have a non-ram-air car so i will be installing mine in front of the radiator
P.S. i didn't engineer these cars or any part on these cars (other than my CAI that didn't help my e.t.) so the above statements are just my thoughts. think about it first, and then if you disagree i'm open to critics
thanks,
Michael.
