transmission problems help please!!

When I take off in my car it shifts through the gears right away (auto ) right away. Or when i put it to the floor it doesnt kick down. I read in a chiltons manual that the linkage is lose. Do you guys think that is what it is or not. And if so how do i ajust it and tighten it back up.

did you check the kickdown cable on the throttle body, it might have jumped some teeth on the adjuster....

If you do not get kickdown at WOT, then the TV cable is (in most cases) is out of adjustment. The TV cable (not kickdown cable) settings are very critical on the 700R4/4L60. You want the TV cable tight or very close to tight when at WOT.

There should be a little push lever (tang) on the TV cable. Hold that in and pull the cable as far as you can twords the front of the car. Once it's pulled out, push the gas pedal to the floor (full wot) and you should hear a click. That is the sound of it self adjusting. If It no longer self adjusts, you should start at the middle setting, drive a little and work your way forward or backward as neccasary. I think the furthur fwd you go the longer it waits to shift and back is the quicker it shifts. It's a PITA if it no longer self adjusts. I just put on a new TV cable when mine no longer self reset.

Next for me is to replace that streched 10 year old Throttle cable. It's a lot easier than the TV cable thank goodness. I bet your pedal action is close to the floor too. I can only get about 70% of WOT right now. So on with the new one!!

It's right on the top. It's the bottom cable on the throttle assembly. The top is Throttle, middle is cruise and bottom is The T.V. cable.
