Trick to reconnecting steering column?
Just finished getting the longtubes in, and I'm trying to get the steering column reattached to the knuckle. I noticed there's a flat spot in the column end, and a flat spot on the receiver, but it's like I just don't have the right angle to get it in there. The car is off the ground, if that matters at all... when the rain stops I'll go try it with the wheels on the ground. Is there a certain trick to it? I whacked it a few times with a hammer but didn't want to risk messing anything up...

Make sure you keep the steering wheel close to center. If you turn the wheel too far, you will snap the SIR coil wires. The air bag light will be on and bags no longer work.

The coupler on mine has to be pried apart just a little every time. I just used a couple screwdrivers to pull open that slotted side about an 8th and then it will go on fine. Line up the notches and push it on till it's bottomed-out and tighten it.

Well open the coupler a little more and put a small amount of antiseize or lube in the coupler. Set coupler on stud and wigggle them until they are allined. You will feel the grab. Pull down untill set like a mother or hammer lightly from top with long extension. Your wheels and steeringwheel must be almost the same position as when you did the uninstal.

Yes, the male end of the connector is the part that attaches to the steering wheel and goes inside the firewall. I suppose I just need to get someone else to turn the wheel until I can get it to go in...
